Each year the Gloucester County Bar Foundation holds the Elliot G. Heard, Jr. Essay Contest. The Gloucester County Bar Foundation conducts the essay contest and seeks annual sponsorship donations through bar association members, corporations and law firms. Student essays are due usually in April and awards for the essay contest are given out at the annual Law Day Luncheon. Any high school student attending a school in Gloucester County is eligible to participate.
The purpose of the essay contest is to encourage students to learn about the law and the pursuit of justice. The students are invited to write an essay based upon a fact pattern written by the Essay Contest Committee. Students are instructed to analyze the legal issues and address arguments for and against a position.
This year's theme is The Legacy of John Adams -- From Boston to Guantanamo. Our Committee is putting together this year's essay topic and is looking forward to reading your sumbissions. Please check back for more details.
