ScholarshipsThe purpose of the Gloucester County Bar Scholarship Fund is to provide financial assistance to Gloucester County high school students who plan to continue their education at a four-year college or university. An applicant for a scholarship award must be a Gloucester County resident attending a high school, who has applied to a four-year accredited undergraduate college or university. The student must have resided in Gloucester County for at least one year. A student who has a practicing attorney in his or her immediate family or an employee of the Gloucester County Bar Association in his or her immediate family, is ineligible. To apply for the scholarship, each student must complete an application form provided by the Gloucester County Bar Foundation Scholarship Fund along with required supplemental materials and submit them no later than April 1. The applicant must submit the following information:
The Scholarship Committee, composed of six members of the Gloucester County Bar Association and the President of the Gloucester County Bar Foundation, reviews the applications and recommends awards to the Bar Foundation, Board of Trustees. The Committee selects the awards based upon factors such as scholastic ability, financial need, general character and accomplishments. The Board makes the final scholarship decisions. One or more scholarships may be awarded each year. The scholarship award is a one-time scholarship. Awards range in the amount of not less than $1,000.00 and not more than $3,000.00. The proceeds of the award must be used for college expenses. The awards are announced at the Law Day Luncheon held on or about May 1. The scholarship checks are issued directly to the student. |
